Internet Resources

Here are a few Web Sites that will help nonprofit organizations and their managers, and help potential donors select charities they may want to donate to.

www.helping.org is an online resource designed to help people find volunteer and giving opportunities. Using the comprehensive information included on this site, one can donate time, services, or financial support.

www.allcharities.com is an online directory of all 670,000 registered 501(c)(3) organizations in the United States. The user can search the directory for one or more organizations he or she would like to support and give to that organization online. All of the charities receive 100% of the donations at no cost to the charity or to the donor.

At www.shop2give.com, the company sponsors an online shopping mall (a site through which charities collect a percentage of the money that consumers spend on various products). Shop2give also builds shopping sites for individual nonprofit organizations at no charge.

www.inetwork.org features worksheets nonprofit organizations can use to design new programs, evaluation procedures, budgets, fundraising plans, and grant applications online.

www.egrants.org was created to help progressive nonprofit organizations connect online with the people and organizations who can offer them support.

www.grantmatch.com allows "grant makers" and "grant seekers" to tell each other who, what, where, when, how, and why they exist in the nonprofit world.

www.score.org is a partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration. SCORE volunteers assist nonprofit organizations.

www.compumentor.org provides low-cost, volunteer-based computer assistance to schools and nonprofit organizations.

www.treas.gov/stawrs The Simplified Tax and Wage Reporting System (STAWRS) is a joint effort among the Department of Labor, Department of Treasury, Internal Revenue Service, Small Business Administration, and Social Security Administration to reduce the tax and wage reporting burden of employers by improving the current reporting processes. This website provides a good discussion of federal employment laws and provides links to relevant federal documents and appropriate state websites.
